Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of the Zen website, the Zen desktop app, and related services ("Zen"). By using Zen you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
The service
Zen is a study notebook with a built-in AI agent. You can run it for free with your own model key, start a limited free trial of the managed agent, or subscribe to a managed plan. Features may change, improve, or be discontinued over time.
Accounts
Some features require signing in with a Google account. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your Google credentials secure. You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction to use Zen.
Free trial
- The free trial is limited to one per Google account, ever — this holds even after the trial expires or a later paid plan is cancelled.
- The trial phase is limited to the first 30 testers and may close once that cap is reached.
- A trial runs on the managed DeepSeek Flash model with a small included AI budget and lasts about one week.
- No payment method is required. The trial ends automatically at the end of its window and does not renew — there is nothing to cancel.
- When the trial ends, the account reverts to the free experience unless you subscribe to a paid plan.
Paid subscriptions
- The DeepSeek Basic plan is €5 per month, billed through Stripe.
- Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled.
- You can cancel anytime from the app settings; access continues until the end of the current billing period.
- Except where required by law, payments already made are non-refundable.
- Prices and plans may change; we will give reasonable notice of material changes.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse Zen — including attempting to bypass usage limits or budgets, abusing the trial system (for example by creating accounts to obtain extra trials), interfering with the service, or using Zen for unlawful purposes. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
AI-generated content
Zen's agent produces AI-generated output that can be inaccurate or incomplete. You are responsible for reviewing it before relying on it, especially for academic, legal, financial, or other important decisions.
Third-party services
Zen relies on third parties including Google, Stripe, and model providers. Your use of those services through Zen is also subject to their respective terms.
Disclaimer and liability
Zen is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date above. Continued use of Zen after a change means you accept the updated terms.
